As someone outside the US, I think the EU should cut all ties with US, period. The states are no longer trustworthy, not in tech, trade,nor with any contract.

EU is willing to throw real resources behind this plan they should be able to get off the ground. people don't care that much which cloud service they use and the blueprint for what to provide to hit parity is already available. leveraging the current energy to divest from the US shouldn't be hard

The article describes how limited Europe’s view of cooperation is: if it exists, it’s focused on selling European tech into other markets, without recognizing other countries want foreign tech dominance of their market to end too. It needs to be truly collaborative, not about market dominance.

Could you elaborate more? It seems to me that Europe could just have public clouds and fund the heck out of open source.

The primary benefit of tech is downstream organisation in a capitalist sense (eg your business has emails now).

GDP may benefit from that not being corpo owned.
