If people want to do that, they should never have pets. I hate it so much. Cropping tails, too. And crates are just weird. A dog is fine at night when you are home. Or you're treating them wrong. Imagine spending so much time in a cage, because someone has to bring a pet to a fussy apartment.
I've never understood why someone would want their dog's ears or tail cropped. And i am also not interested in giving my cats chronic pain, so I just try to clip them and fail sometimes 😅
We had a rescue who was half pitt and half beagle, and she was the sweetest girl, but her tail was docked by whoever had her first.
While it was cute to see her little nubby wiggling back and forth whenever she was happy, I really wish they hadn't done it.
That GH owls scoop up full grown cats is probably myth. Kittens, maybe. The owls don't weigh that much, I've held a full grown owl (it was dead) and they weigh about a pound. I've also seen owl balls and they prey on much smaller creatures, bats and mice and small rats.
Gosh who would do that? Be careful about your conclusions. I have a stumpy cattle dog, bred for a short tail and am regularly questioned by strangers about my choice.
Sometimes it’s better for a dog to have their ears cropped.
For instance, if you use your dog to make money from the underground dog fighting scene, it’s actually better for the dog to have its ears cropped and its tail docked.
Sometimes it is.
Boxers often wag their tails so hard they break them, and floppy ear dogs can develop blood blisters from shaking. So in those cases, docking and cropping is medically necessary.
It’s only for feral cats and prevents them going through the trauma of being trapped again. I think the positives outweigh any negatives.
Nobody wants to see litters of sick and poorly kittens struggling to survive.
Well it upsets me that the local low-cost spay/neuter clinic charges an exorbitant fee to not ear tip the cats they treat. These cats aren't all feral. People bring them in because they can't afford regular vet charges, so they certainly can't afford a charge to not have the ear tipping done.
You are crazy if you think your one line on a message board is going to stop people from being idiots, but a few of us heard you and we're in agreement.
I couldn't agree more. These "procedures" (along with tail cropping) are not only painful and disfiguring, they interfere with the animal's ability to communicate (dogs) and defend themselves (cats). It's barbaric.
Oh dear I think not expecting it docked is a surprise. I don’t have a strong opinion either way as breeds have their standards. The adorable loaves of bread have the best bums. Congratulations on getting a corgi- they are the BEST. I’d have ten like Queen Elizabeth if I had my way. Such personality
We were surprised because it came from a family friend and we didn’t know it was normal. So one day we got a picture of him as a puppy with a tail and the next day we get a picture (both times before 8 weeks which is why we were waiting) and the tail was gone!
Why are we unable to breed these dogs with naturally pointy ears?
I never got the need for cropping as a breed standard.
And if you want to declaw a cat then don't get a fucking cat. You are basically handicapping the cat just to preserve your ugly furniture.

Don’t dock their tails either!

Granted- it’s a long term negative side effect of our breeding practices that have made it necessary in some situations.
But still- unfortunately it is often necessary in certain modern breeds.

👍
Unfortunately that has gone over some people’s heads.
None of this is cool.

90% of the time though, not needed.

But I DO spay/neuter to prevent future suffering from homelessness.
Mine ❤️
