While acknowledging what actually is the near certainty that President Trump “may be bloody-minded enough that he wants to show the judiciary who’s boss,”

The SC needs to send out a paragraph affirming their previous decision,
They must add that actions against the constitution are simply unofficial acts.
Um
trump has already shown ''the judiciary who’s boss,”
Have you not been paying attention ?
trump / Bondi / Patel will eventually run out of pedantic excuses..
then we will get words of one syllable
i'm waiting to see trump and John Roberts sat across the table from one another
Who blinks first ?
It's all part of the undemocratic and unAmerican Theory of The Unitary Executive. All over the Federalist papers and the constitution, Congress is intended to be the primary source of power.
Will the majority of the SCOTUS get to recover their lost balls in light of this opportunity, or wl they continually bend-over for the deranged-Psycho-felon at OVL-OFC WH ….?!?!
TalkG abt DEADLY QSTN in this chaos politics of the United States of America 🇺🇸 …. ‼️ ⚠️ ‼️ ⚠️ ‼️ ⚠️ ‼️
Will Garcia be silenced if he comes back? Will he be threatened again with deportation if he is asked about his experience & shares it? We shall learn if Tfg is up to no good in El Sal with our money or his. Didn’t he express interest in a prisoner gladiator like game at 1 point?
I don’t think that poor man stands a chance. Might be killed first, so the problem goes away….or he can’t tell his story. Crazy world right now because of one man, his cult, and his thugs. .
1. He is lying and can simply ask for the return of anyone sent there
2. He really has no power to do so, which means he has no business sending anyone there
No one even seems to ask about #2. Like why the fuck would you send anyone to a place you can't get them back from?
Wolff's All or Nothing is very instructive as to his mindset.
Worth noting he has a Rasputin - Natalie Harp - who informs his world view.
Her slavish devotion to him, well described by Wolff (was she his source??) ensures Trump will be far less likely to capitulate than during his first admin.
Donald wants the SupCt to legitimate his dictatorial claim that he has un-reviewable authority over all matters outside the borders as long as the Constitution is viable and, when it is not, all matters everywhere.
Even the littlest things can help the psyche. In '17 I started putting my flag forever stamps on my mail upside down. My sister noticed, it pissed her off & that made me feel great! It's 2025, that 🤬 is STUNNINGLY back in the WH & the stamps are upside down again. Do what keeps you sane🤷🏻♀️
the Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal is wisely counseling the President “to settle all of this by quietly asking Mr. Bukele to return Mr. Abrego Garcia” to the United States.
Returning one person to the U.S. will not “settle all this,” because he exemplifies the rushed, unconstitutional process followed for the entire group, with independent analysts finding that many have no criminal record.
Not optimistic. He’s already kicked Bloomberg and Reuters out of the WH press pool. Half expect them to be kicked out next as they, too, have been critical of Trump, reporting on the actual facts rather than playing obeisance.
Asking a dictator in your pay to correct an “administrative error” that condemned a man to life in a gulag would seem to be the dictate of common decency and the so-called “Judeo-Christian values” the conservatives claim.
Thank you, Your Honor. It seems to me, as a rapidly aging retired country doctor, that the constitution was not created to codify the power of the wealthy and powerful, but to protect all residents (it uses the term “people” more than “citizens”) from the abuse of the coercive power of government.
“And the media, all the media, they said to me ‘sir, please oh please Mr. Powerful POTUS, won’t you please bring him back but I won’t do it. I’m too strong.” 🙄
“If this case does become a judicial showdown, Mr. Trump may assert his Article II powers not to return Mr. Abrego Garcia, and the Supreme Court will be reluctant to disagree,” says the WSJ Editorial Board.
If this true that the court can’t order a President to do something regarding their dealings with a foreign entity. Then what protection if he sends US citizen opponents over to the gulag? This is preposterous if they can’t say the govt has to use whatever peaceful/legal means to undo their wrong.
I agree that the Supreme Court will be reluctant to disagree” with the President’s “assertion” of his Article II powers. But the Supreme Court will have no choice under the Constitution of the United States but to disagree with the President.
They had a choice on the 14th amendment. I have NO CONFIDENCE in SCOTUS to adhere to the text of the constitution. They seem to always find a way to make ambiguous rulings when it comes to Trump.
The Supreme Court also had no choice to refuse total immunity for Presidential official acts according to constitution but they decided to grant full dictator power anyway so don’t expect anything from the exact same corrupted 6 judges that they will go with the dictator they empowered.
I thought they had no choice when they inexplicably held he couldn't be charged with crimes as long as he said official act. After that, anything is possible.
There is a proven third way, in which they mealy mouth the issue, avoiding any frank condemnation, send it back down for re-defining, promise to re-hear it in full, and always delay, delay, delay
For, President Trump possesses no power under Article II not to “facilitate” Mr. Garcia’s release and ensure that he receives the due process that Donald Trump knowingly and intentionally has denied him.
When they say they can't do this thing, it really means they can't display their utter incompetence and criminality, because allowing one innocent person back is all it will take to show the lie and bring the house crumbling down around them.
I say send them to the Hague. There's no justice here.
The Supreme Court decided that the President lacked any such Article II power
when it issued its unanimous order affirming the district court’s order requiring the President to “facilitate” Mr. Garcia’s release and to provide him the due process that he was denied.
All Trump has to do is have El Salvador say he's their citizen and they won't return him, as they're doing now. Then it's a matter of foreign policy they have no control over.
Judge Luttig's sound advice here has to be contrasted with the advice and interpretation the President is receiving from Himmler/Miller and Heydrich/Bondi, who have told the President that the Court's opinion supports him 9-0 on the issue of the President's plenary authority in foreign affairs.
Is there no law to prevent the use of prisoners being shipped out of our country? If not why not? How is it okay to pay a foreign country to house people accused of crimes from this country?
Your laser beam precision and step by step arguments are unfailingly masterful and reassuring. Your voice continues to be exceptionally important in these times. Thank you for all that you are doing to uphold the rule of law and our democracy. The last bulwark is the judicial branch, if it holds.
I respect your opinion, but I think the courts attempting to compel the executive branch to modify their relationship with another country would be a clear Article II violation. The DoJ is already arguing that the press conference with Bukele shows that he has no interest in releasing Garcia.
They used such weasel language you could drive a truck of evasion through it. The SC have been backing up inch by inch in deference to authoritarianism (a unitary executive or whatever) until now they’ve backed themselves up to the edge of a cliff. With the immunity ruling they screwed the pooch.
With all due respect, Judge—that’s all well and good. But SCOTUS’s immunity decision created this monster set us on this authoritarian path. Trump wasnt held accountable and placed above the law. Can they reverse it? That’s for sharp legal minds like yours and @tribelaw.bsky.social to figure out
Am I the only one who understands what’s going on? The 2 other government branches are insignificant. Even if the democrats regain control of congress and vote to impeach and remove him, he will stay in power.
This is a dance. The SCOTRNC has a traitor majority that cares very little about the Constitution, rule of law, and judicial independence. What you’re missing is they already gave their independence away, just like congress did, by allowing him to run and granting immunity.

The presidential immunity decision has emboldened him. The Supreme Court must remove this decision so Trump doesn’t feel he is above the law!

The Supreme Court is politicized and no longer represents the constitution but a single man.

The stage was set when they made him King.
Follow the money.

"She's right outside the oval office."

A voice of learned reason, full with the weight of the law
I breathe a bit easier knowing you speak truth to power
he also thinks he can win a pissing war with Xi.
has trump LOOKED at modern China lately?
what a joke.
It’s not enough just to have one person denied justice returned. They need to shut down the illegal police state action.
34-time convicted felon Donald John Trump is genetically incapable of admitting error in himself, or which reflects upon himself.
He is a danger to the nation, and needs to be jailed--at the VERY least.
So my confidence in SCOTUS is gone
I say send them to the Hague. There's no justice here.
