And being an activist is fine, but this is another example of these folks (TAS, esp. Shettler and Muul) being knowingly deceptive to craft a sympathetic narrative for their cause. They did it with "Grandma" Brooks
They did it with pickleball, claiming trees would be removed (lie). Call them out!

From Muul's FB page. Reading the Emerald piece, I immediately recognized Papermaster's name from various petitions and posts Kersti has made. It's a very distinct name. Either Muul, Shettler, and Papermaster didn't share this relationship, or the Emerald writer chose not to divulge it 🤷

But what's funny is I was thinking about making a post about this just from the TAS petition, before the Emerald article. I read the petition, which Muul and Shettler co-wrote, and thought it sounded fishy. My dad lived in this part of Beacon Hill when I was a kid and I remember *narrow* sidewalks.

So I did a virtual walk via Google Street View, and yeah, these sidewalks are narrow and in really bad shape. The strip in which the trees are planted is incredibly narrow, as Muul says. But I honestly don't see how new ADA-compliant (likely wider) sidewalks can coexist with these specific trees.

I guess my point is, I don't see this being a well-selected battle, and yet again Muul and Shettler have managed to get sympathetic news coverage for a questionable cause. I love trees, too, but oaks and maples do not make good street trees.

But mostly, screw Tree Action Seattle and their lies.
