Love that album. Am also old enough to remember it was written during his short, ill-fated first marriage to someone he clearly should not have been married to. But great lyrics about finding out the hard way that some relationships aren’t meant to be.
I think it gets hit hard mostly because it followed Born in the USA. From a songwriting perspective it’s a great exploration of romantic relationships with more nuance than his previous songs had
Love that album. I get why people weren’t high on it but it came out when I was a teenager without a huge memory or fondness for Bruce (despite growing up literally the town next to where he lives) so hearing it with fresh ears, I thought it was great.

Underrated album too, there are some great songs. Brilliant Disguise, Tougher Than the Rest, Walk Like a Man, etc.
