I've been boycotting Amazon for months now. It's easier than you think. Though I acknowledge the privilege of having other options to buy from where I live.
I've been boycotting Amazon since like 2021 but I thought we were all boycotting at least since the union strikes in December. When did y'all start shopping Amazon again?
I'm car free ( have been 8 years now). I bike everywhere. I only buy pork/chicken from Ca. local sources that are cruelty free; don't eat red meat. I'm retired and I hardly buy any clothes at all, lol, I live in my bike clothing (and bought multiple backups years ago). 1/2
I buy shoes every other year. My $ is spent on food at local markets/farmers markets, rarely eating out at non chain restaurants, going to movies at the world's best independent theater (Grand Lake in Oakland), and caring for my pet. I read a lot (library), play classical guitar, hang with friends
To make a difference in a company's financial status, a boycott needs to go for at least 180 days, or until they change whatever the aim of the boycott is.
Cold Turkey is not always doable and can lead to hard relapse with any habit. This is gradually building- one day, then one week, etc- so that people see is as feasible or can make it feasible for themselves.
What if the goal isn't to make a difference in the company's financial status? What if the goal is to get people comfortable with protesting slowly and 180 days can be daunting at first? No one jumps directly to high-impact, high-risk direct action. People need to start somewhere.
Can someone please explain to me how these boycotts are supposed to work when the other side simply doubles down on spending when we withdraw ours? You know, like we did when Moms for Liberty did their boycotts? I really would like to know.
Consider supporting or joining orgs in the fight instead of shopping

And your local press
Shop local independent businesses whenever you can. More of your tax dollars stay in your community - $68/$100 vs $43/$100 - when you shop local. Local biz’s are far more likely to reinvest back into your community than a big box chain.
I would NEVER purchase from Amazon or any company related to that evil bald creep destroying the planet with our stolen money so he can play rocket man. Fuck Bezos. Death to all billionaires. Hoarding resources is evil, and evil deserves death.
You can go to the websites of the products you are wanting to buy and have them shipped directly to your house. They will either come through the Postal Service or UPS or FedEx. Are those services not available to you in your area?
Pray that your shipment doesn't involve the Postal Service 🤕 DeJoy has been quite effective in dismantling it to take it private: items take twice as long (or more) as they used to to get to you, even prescriptions, which can have SERIOUS consequences!
Why? Walmart and Amazon have destroyed the unaffiliated brick and mortar. The fake pandemic finished the job. I’ll bet you were thrilled to get your first Walmart. And yes, I am smug but not elite. It happened in the city, too.
It says a week, but it isn’t going to last that long. They will say they didn’t use it, but it’ll happen. People see post like this and jump in the heard for a day or so maybe. Or say they do just to fit in. Nobody’s taking it seriously lol.
My last purchase was 1/16/25 and it’ll be the last I ever make. I’m so pissed at the state of things that I genuinely don’t even notice the inconvenience
There are alternatives for authors. Check out Draft2Digital
It is only viable because people buy books there. The monopoly only works if people are too lazy to go to bookstores and their web sites (like Barnes and Noble for example). It CAN be done if we all do it.
I guess since I am a widow who lives by herself, watching movies or tv programs is important. I am not connected to cable, only streaming. I can’t afford any new movies.
The Unbreakable North Token is more than just a token in the Maple Sovereignty Series Collection, it's far more than just a commemorative digital token also. It's the people's voice, the people's decision, the people's interests all on chain. Mint your token now and be ready for the change.
Please help make this go viral! We have to step up our game because our representatives are clearly not going to save us from this fast moving coup! The only thing we really can do that's nonviolent is slow production. Cost them money. Don't get fired. Don't hurt anyone. But do more where youcan
The world is entering a downswing of history. I'm not ashamed to shill my dad's book that covers electricity, ammo, water, food, health, and sustainability. These topics are covered in ways that other books do not. Especially making, storing and using electricity.
This is insuring Amazon goes belly up. I can plant fresh vegetables in my yard and containers. I can shop at Farmers Markets. I can make muffins from flour v a mix. I can skip meat. My Car is 5 years old and reliable I can do with what I have.
I just cancelled it all. It was cheap Chinese knockoffs anyway and I refused to pay yet more for Prime video to remove adverts. Fuck them, and fuck giving any American companies money.
Good to know. The nearest one to us is about an hour and a half away. We've survived without Amazon since the beginning of the year, Walmart will be "tricky", but doable 😉!
We’ve got to make it permanent. I have not purchased anything from Amazon in eight months and I’m surviving. It’s a fucking miracle. Americans are soft and weak.
Boycotted Amazon a decade ago for being a modern day sweatshop. It's easy.
You can buy online from literally anywhere else and have been able to do so for about 20 years now. And virtually every grocery store has a pickup option you can just pop there on the way home without going inside. Not hard.
Yum a lot of those other smaller sites and including big ones that don’t have their own shipping. Use Amazon delivery services now as alternatives to ups, usps and fed-ex. You will by the product say from Best Buy or even SHEIN. You will see now on some cases you get and Amazon TBA tracking number.
Nobody has ever needed Amazon. Same with Meta, and same with Twitter. They do not provide services that we need to live. This should be the easiest boycott of them all.
IMDB has value to me as a source of reviews on movies that I'll acquire elsewhere. I figure my mode of using IMDB is a net loss to Amazon.
Oh, and tracking cookies? I use uBlock Origin as an ad blocker so I'm not a target for ads.
I will try my damndest to participate in this boycott of Amazon, but goddammit, when I look for something, and the local store has one version and Amazon has 25 versions, it's just so difficult to get it from them. And then I hate myself for doing it.
You can always search for something in Amazon and then purchase it directly from the company's website. If it's a shady company without a direct website, do you really want to buy from them either?
gave up using Amazon, yes it takes a little longer to get things, but nobody can’t take a bathroom break because of me. online shopping is easier if you don’t use google.
Add on all other companies owned or supporting the krasnov regime; so companies owned by musk, bezos, zuckerberg, t & fam, vance- the company planning to buy farmland for cheap, when they make farmers desperate to sell. Do it all NOW
Forever has a sweet sound to me. Almost five months has been great! Shopping local is wonderful. Healthier for the single recluse. Yes,hard for families but in-store experience is an educational opportunity. Reading, colors, math, logic, nutrition and bonding. Some of my best memories as a parent.
How about getting it over with and drop Amazon for good. Not just a week. Pay a little locally. Drop some body weight. Help your budget. Stop your mass consumption addiction. GO COLD TURKEY, DROP AMAZON!
Been boycotting them much longer, I also deleted the app and Alexa. People who bend a knee to Trump are dead to me. As inconvenient as it is, I refuse to give my money to people who kneel at Trump’s feet.
Easy! I can go for a lot longer than that by just buying locally. In addition to great local produce, our food co-op now has a couple of items I used to subscribe to on Amazon: dishwasher tablets and washer sheets.
Not to be silly, but in Thailand, Amazon is the local "starbuicks"!!
Much cheaper and just as good..
It's coffee and not affiliated with that shopping site..
Just in case I'm spotted entering tomorrow.. 😉😉..
Oh no, in Thailand, that's a different Amazon, I understand 😂 Khaojainaka🙏 Get your Cappuyen on!☕
Plus Amazon Coffee Thailand is better than Starbucks and cheaper. I agree ka. 🙏
I'm a farang.. my wife and son are from here.. I just pass by occasionally on my way to better coffeeshops around this planet..
Next.. Bulldog, NL.. 😉😉
It's kap? 🤔 I speak English at them, then my wife steps in saying weird noises.. I only manage 6 languages.. European stuff kinda got around and i'm a ⚓
Being in Asia for 20+ years got me to go 😑 I have failed my polyglot badge, I'm only few glots. 🤔 good enough in CH JP SK TW HKG SIN IND .. 🇬🇧 rulez
Boycotting Amazon Web Services means a significant chunk of the internet is off limits. Netflix uses AWS. So does Adobe, Disney, Reddit, Meta, Verizon, and so on.
I must be the only person in the US who has never bought or watched anything from Amazon. And stopped shopping at Whole Paychecks when it was bought out.
I made a zero spend pledge for the year, only buy necessities or things I will use to create things to sell. I have not bought a thing from Amazon since January 1 and I used to get two to three deliveries a week. It can be done! I am living proof!
Already canceled Amazon and their credit card due to a Russian hack last week. Unrecoverable, and they won't close the account. I can still watch Prime on my Fire TV. But a disclaimer on every show that it's not available in Russian.
This is the electric aided bicycle used to deliver in our neighborhood. Before Bezos kissed the ring there were 2-3 mega vans a day. Forever boycotts work.
I heard rumor that Bezos PAID, like a million dollars to sit up on stage that one time. Though, I would't doubt if Trump threatened and the options were "pay or you're in the out group."
Amazon obviously keeps track of what is in shopping carts. Most likely considers them as potential sales in their numbers. What if we all filled the shopping carts with high priced items and then cancel them at the end of the week?
Same here. Years ago I was replacing my digital piano… priced it on Amazon but went to my local music store. Their initial price was $50 less than Amazon. Why not give them the business.
I’ve found better deals online direct from manufacturers. But I prefer brick and mortar. Meet people.
Dad, a glazier superior who 47 once "stiffed." Always said,"Buy local." Daddy served all the Churches' broken stained glass free of charge. It's not fair that he is gone, and 47 is still walking around.
Just be aware that some companies are entrenched with Amazon. I placed an order directly from a seller’s website (for reference it was “Hippeas.com” ). A couple of days later I get my stuff, but it was shipped through Amazon. I was disappointed to say the least.
Nah. Rather get my product in 2 days. No shipping fees. What I pay per month for prime with how much I order. I saved ALOT with not paying shipping. It’s insane.
People are going to realize this is much easier than we thought, and that should scare the shit out of Jeffrey Bezos, because once we get used to it, there’s no reason to go back. https://youtu.be/vTyeZjo7n_M?si=23cK35eXNIJJTsF1
Have done this for a while, and have found packaging much, much higher in quality, and seemingly more cared-for in the shipping process. Highly recommend.
All these large corp was allowed to get to get so powerful because of the merges that have been allowed to happen by our elected officials & our government! We need to break them up to allow for healthier competition & lower prices. Their greed has destroyed this country!
Some of us never had an Amazon account because we aren't spoiled brats like you. If you enable oligarchs only to wwwhine about it, you're part of the problem.
I’m shopping locally or using Etsy to support individual businesses. No more Target, Amazon, Home Depot, etc. Any company who contributes to trump is dead to me.
I ended my prime subscription right after the election and closed my twitter account at the same time. I have not set foot in Target this year. I will not do business with anyone who aligns itself with fascism
Some people may need it to make purchases they cannot in stores. Some brands i use aren’t sold in stores, or have their own website, and sell strictly through their Amazon store front. Hope that helps :)
Such a pity I can cancel my subscripions and account only once. Oh, wait a minute, I could subscribe / unsubscribe every two days like Trump's stock manipulation scheme with
the tariffs. That should drive them mad 😠 😡 😤.
Nah. I’m good. I’m going to continue to support Amazon. Walmart. Target. All of em. And because of this “boycott” I’m gonna have to shop even more than I do at these places.
Comments
Eat less/no meat from factory farms and abattoirs (boycott cruel conditions and child labor)
Learn “visible mending”, and wear mended clothes proudly (boycott throw-away consumerism and sweatshops)
Love boycotting the oligarchy!
You win my admiration for the day.

I hope these boycotts have an added effect that we realize we don’t really need most of the things we thought we “needed”.
Long term, keep buying less shit. It’s good for everyone.

We did.
Let It Go.
Never. Again. Amazon.
I'll just use the public library instead.
Find minority businesses online to buy their goods and put them on social media!!!

Maybe if we bought things locally with cash, we could make jobs in our communities. Just maybe?
Online fees are for suckers.
How people ever thought everyone buying primarily from a single source would EVER work in their favor, blows my mind. Naive gullibility it seems.
It’s not even needed .
Go local or direct from supplier !!
What’s not needed for you. Might be needed for someone else. Remember that.
Has not ordered a thing since.
Can't buy from these greedy cowrads
I appear to be managing perfectly well without them, funnily enough, I'm picky where & for what I shop.
Apparently there are pirate sites where you can watch TV/Movies they produce for free.
Not that I would ever condone that kind of behaviour, obviously.
the tariffs. That should drive them mad 😠 😡 😤.
Still not worth it.
It's been almost a year since we used Amazon and won't start now.
Fuck you, Amazon.
