The biological sexes I learned of in developmental biology:
XX
XY
XXY - Klinefelter Syndrome
XYY - Jacob’s Syndrome
XX- Male Syndrome (phenotypically male)
XY- Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (female phenotype)
And this is just what we CURRENTLY know.
So
No
There are not two biological sexes.

We are gunna have to return our plague doctor masks 😭
Thank you so very much!!
I LOVE helping others understand biology and genetics. Could talk about this all day 😅
I always wanted to be a science communicator but never knew how to organize things + get over my social anxieties haha
In XX male syndrome, they may NEVER know they are XX and can be fully reproductively functioning (there is 3 phenotypes!!)
FYI, if you ever meet a calico male-that’s XXY, you have a klinefelters kitty.
Treasure your intersex baby, they are very rare.

You were the coolest kid ever.
If I ever met a klinefelters kitty and had the chance to adopt..I couldn’t help myself. They are so special
Learning about genetics changed everything in how I see the world.
It’s so beautifully chaotic and freeing vs the crisp hard boxes we try to put everything in
Thank you for sharing this!!
I could talk about this allllll day. It’s the good juice. 🧃
