Probably a missing "and" between "Gong" and "Christians." Almost no copy editors exist anymore compared to a generation ago.

It scans like the author intended “Falun Gong Christians” (paralleling “LGBT asylum seekers”) but a good copy editor would write “I don’t think that’s a thing” in the margin
