"Ever"? I would think James Earl "Buddy" Ryan might top that list. The others which come to mind are first-time NFL head coaches who had been college head coaches -- Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, probably some non-Cowboys too.

Johnson had his first up close and personal look at what a real transcendent quarterback looks like last weekend and decided to quickly head to a hated rival to try and salvage Caleb from a franchise that is quarterback quicksand. Good luck Ben
