Marvel could pay for my healthcare for the rest of my life for a fraction of 1% of profit from Spider-Man Noir, a character whose original comics I edited. For Peter David to die in medical debt, co-creator of Spider-Man 2099 and writer of countless seminal Hulk and X-Factor comics—that's a disgrace

No one should have medical debt regardless of where they worked.
Now that the soap box is out of the way I can appreciate the issue caused by the current state of affairs.
Healthcare should be treated as a basic human right not something you have to earn by having success.
All time high, by the way. Much, much, much higher than during anytime in human history.
“We are the richest country on Earth.
“Republicans think that should mean a handful of guys exploiting workers and skipping out on taxes to buy city-sized yachts and penis rockets.
“Democrats think it should mean *everyone* has healthcare, housing, food, and education.”
“Where are the trans folks docking their mega yachts?
“Which DEI hires have built luxurious underground bunkers to escape the hell they’re creating above-ground?
“Which SNAP recipients bought entire networks and newspapers to propagandize you?”
It's the Government's job, not Marvel's job.
We corresponded on and off in the early 90s, he sent me an entire Hulk script, I avidly read his Trek novels so when his GFM opened I donated multiple times as I could, I'm sorry it wasn't enough

It's a disgrace that the US doesn't have universal health care
It's just someone cries out "socialism!" and it becomes a dead issue.
Marvel definitely could have helped him out though. Gross that they let this hapeen to someone so important to their brand.
when Frank Bellamy died his widow asked if she could have some of his art back to sell because she was broke. She was told no.
Siegal & Shuster had to sue to get payment for Superman
Its common for British artists not to get paid for reprints
In order to have care, you must be employed & companies don't just pay wages. Often the cost of medical benefits are higher than the pay.
US workers receiving the same wages as Canadians cost nearly twice as much.
DJT thinks he can tariff his way out of this. But his tariffs are inflationary and people will demand higher wages.
It's still cheaper for Apple to make iPhones in India even with a 25% tariff.
Neither US party wants to propose that because it's political suicide.
America's linkage of health care costs to employers is the heart of the problem that no one will even discuss.
If anything, be mad at private health insurance.
Fair enough
Or are you just being intellectually dishonest on purpose cuz you don’t like Iron Man?
We should have universal healthcare.
