I am an AGU LANDiNG fellow and we got an email two weeks ago that the program is temporarily paused, but I will be surprised if it’s restarted

I wonder how much they'd stand to gain instead of lose if they put a call to members with "The federal government threatened to pull $1M in funding for diversity programs! We value diversity and told them to shove it, please chip in to cover the program!"

That's ~$16 per member if we all chip in

I was worried about whether they would be sustained even before **all of this**. In my 4 years on AGU council we never really got an answer. They start programs with some external support, but then given their operational deficits, continuing them isn't guaranteed.

If $1M in external funding annually is 2% of their budget, do they really have a budget of $50M each year?
