Something I think will be very hard but very important in the next 4 years is distinguishing between the very real problems we know exist in our institutions & the absolutely batshit problems these conspiracy theorists believe exist.

Their solutions wont fix our problems. They’ll make them worse.

I very much hope these crucial discussions on #EpiSky can fuel more engagement w/ #histmed. Understanding what it took to build up our current public health infrastructures will be vital. It might also help us recognize different paths that might be taken, given new science available now.

Over the years Elon has consistently stated that the way to do layoffs is to fire enough people so that things break. Once things are broken, hire back just enough people to get it working again. Otherwise, you risk not cutting enough.

What isn't being talked about enough right now is the basic idea that if every cut in government spending leads to a corresponding reduction in government services then we aren't increasing efficiency. Isn't that the whole point of this exercise?

I expect they believe many government services are inefficient. For example, if it wasn't for voters, I bet they think medicare shouldn't exist, and people should use their own resources to buy medical care.

I feel like the affects of this election are like being on a beach when a tsunami is coming: those who actually understand what is going to happen are scrambling to protect themselves.
