Top climate priorities: 1. Electrify everything. Yes even that. 2. Stop burning anything for energy. Seriously. 3. Build and install as much solar PV and batteries as you have money for using the latest technology. If we don’t do these 3 things as fast as possible our civilisation might be lost.

Neighbor-Source Heat Pump xkcd.com/3099/

Maine residents, save on average $700 dollars every year on your energy bills. ACiQ 50 Gallon Heat Pump water heater = $1,699 with free delivery to your home.....as low as $525 after $950 rebate from Efficiency Maine® plus a 30% Federal tax credit: newwaterheaterdecisions.com/heat-pump-wa...

this is interesting www.spur.org/sites/defaul... @shreyassudhakar.com

I hadn't seen this exact document before, but it's a great summary. The flowcharts shown are very representative of what the permit process for heat pumps looks like in most cases. I'm currently waiting on a permit for one of our @vayu.pro projects that we applied for in March!

Why in the world would SoCal Air regulators reject clean air rules? It's a win for gas industry disinformation and a loss for public health, writes @evanlgeorge.bsky.social legal-planet.org/2025/06/09/w...

Reminder gas is burned to produce energy & in the process releases harmful pollutants that increase the risk of asthma, heart attack, & cancer. It’s NOT clean!!!!! 🤬

If we want to incentivize things with tax credits, we need a uniform system to buy and sell them. Get your credit certified, then sell it into the market at Fidelity or Schwab. All credits fungible. One credit is one share of the benefit to all of society.

“The path to Canada’s electrified future is clear and achievable. It offers a chance not only to radically reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also to build a stronger, more resilient economy, foster innovation, and secure sustainable energy independence.” #cdnpoli #elbowsup #TheFutureIsElectric

Did you know that the countries with the most heat pumps installed are also in some of the coldest climates? Find out more in our article in Nature Energy 👇 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

The heat pump domestic water heaters with the built-in thermostatic mixing valves are energy storage infrastructure especially when controlled to store the heat energy during the daytime when there is high PV generation.

The conditions that have led to what’s happening in the US today exist in democracies around the world. They are an inevitable outcome of our collective failure to adapt to fundamental changes in the information ecosystem on which our democracies were originally built.

Lately I’ve been intrigued by the idea that local generation serving local demand (say, 5 miles) should not pay for long distance transmission. Is there a podcast that talks about stuff like that?

“Nguyen, who serves on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, echoed opponents' concerns that the rules would financially burden people.” No, what is a burden is not facilitating the use of fuels that are home grown. www.sfgate.com/business/art...

Excellent little history on energy efficiency improvements that have been made over the decades, 1970 50A, 1999 30A, 2025 20A breakers.

On 7-5 vote, AQMD rejects gas appliance surcharge aimed at improving air quality

Absolutely disappointing. The responsibility of the SCAQMD is, in their own words, “To clean the air and protect the health of all residents in the South Coast Air District”. Delaying these rules prevents residents from having clean and healthy air.

The South Coast AQMD failed to pass the (delayed and amended) clean air rules regarding water and space heaters. Here’s what led to all of this: legal-planet.org/2025/06/05/t...

Surveys show people are concerned about climate change, but even these weak appliance rules for Southern California failed to pass.

Truisms of California wildfire.

So much disinformation around these rules. They encourage manufacturers to make more heat pumps, they do not ban gas appliances I’m told there’s increased security at today’s vote because the rules are viewed as controversial - following a gas industry opposition campaign bsky.app/profile/evan...

It’s 80 to 90 percent folks who support the rule in the auditorium. Labor union members, residents, seniors, kids, etc all there for supporting. The opponents did not really show up in person. It just shows the fossil fuel industry stoked fear, but I guess not concerned enough to show up.

Is anybody live blogging this meeting?

Regulators seek to phase out gas-powered appliances in Southern California www.latimes.com/environment/...

SoCal air quality regulators are set to vote on 2 proposals that would reduce harmful pollution from gas furnaces and water heaters. Policymakers should not be swayed by misleading claims about "bans" and costs, write our Cara Horowitz and @evanlgeorge.bsky.social. legal-planet.org/2025/06/05/t...

Look @shreyassudhakar.com , Media is advertising same-width air handlers.
