Most of the acolytes of El Anaranjado are pathetic, like him, and like him they way more want to be hated than pitied. We can thwart that desire and direct our energy at keeping on thwarting them at every turn - it's so much more fun, and it's a game the whole family can play!
The good news is that some of my fellow melanin-deprived humans are finally getting to experience the sort of daily terror that BIPOC and queer folk have known for years

(Of course it's not "good", none of this is "good", but nascent fascism has been enabled by a whole swath of individuals turning a blind eye because they could, and that's becoming less of an option now)
That's the thing, what white people say and do are two completely separate things. I swear most don't even think about it but without fail we say the good thing out loud but do evil at every turn that suits us.
They were probably lying to themselves. But, I’d wager that the framing of the poll questions was quite different from how conservative news sources frame DEI everyday.
Why are you so dismissive of the idea that white people think diversity and inclusion are good things? You and many people you know presumably think it's good. And there must have been many others considering how widespread DEI initiatives have been.
Because the majority of white people over 24 voted for Trump admittedly republican voters have zero idea what Republican policies actually are and deny they could be real when informed
I don't think DEI erases disabled people. We benefit from DEI. I think newsrooms mostly say DEI because the people fighting against it call themselves anti-DEI activists.
Even people in DEI forget that disability comes under DEI half of the time. So yeah, you are absolutely right. The attacks on DEI are being driven by racism. 100%.
Yes we absolutely benefit from DEI but they’re cutting the Accessibility programs and employees at federal level. But for some reason it’s almost never stated that accessibility are part of the cuts?
I may be missing the point though (serious brain fog tonight)
Schedule A hiring and existing ADA accommodations fortunately do not seem to be touched yet. The RTO thing says consistent with applicable law, which I’m assuming in the ADA.
Not saying no programs are being cut, and it’s bad things are. Frankly imo one of the more scary things is the “accuse your coworker of being a DEI hire” snitch line
I think both are true. Mostly because a lot of people, including those in newsrooms, still view disability as only wheelchair users or people with Down Syndrome.
Oh I agree there is a huge ableism problem in media. I don't think we're necessarily being erased with the frame of DEI (I view accessibility as a form of equity and inclusion) in what the Trump admin is doing now.
From personal experience, I've only had trainings called DEI not DEIA done at companies where I've worked, and disability was a part of it every time, which also shapes my thinking on this.
i mean, the order is literally titled "Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing". it's only revealed if you read through the actual contents of the order and see that it says "DEIA.
Disabled people already know we’re in the crosshairs, i promise. It’s just that it’s gotten that much worse again for disabled people who are Black, BIPOC, impoverished, trans, women, and/or in any other way othered from Polite Society™️ (derogatory)
“But we need to make sure we get the right trainers. We can’t make the white men feel bad.” Said by the white male VP of my dept at a public university, when employees demanded cultural competency training for people leaders.
What can you do to about companies dropping DEI policies? Use your wallet!
- Getting a new car? Only buy from a minority employee.
- Buying new carpet? Use a minority-owned company.
- Research products & companies BEFORE you buy.
Seek out minorities for EVERY purchase moving forward!

disclaimer: ye its cool to help out some person that is propably experiencing discrimination but "use your wallet" in face of fascism is the most libbed up shit i have seen in a while
if you are mad: talk organize and protest to create a way to stop it and not just skint around the opression
this is so hillarious omg
like ye if my broke ass is gonna buy a car i will go out of my way to get it from some minority group i will also ask several questions about their sexuality and gender identity to make sure im buying from the person that experiences the most opression
You know, I don’t think they realize that the benefits of hiring ex-military members is a form of DEI. The business gets a tax cut for it and the more they hire the more they can get.
Generations of mediocre white dudes and dudettes upset that a black person got the promotion instead of them because no one in middle management wants to be like “yo homie you can’t use Excel for shit”.
In their minds, everything they have was earned. Everything “others” have was given to them undeservedly. The racism is enough that the math doesn’t need to work out on the rationale.
Just a bunch of terrible mediocre fucks who can afford boats getting super angry because a black family moved into the neighborhood and bought a Hyundai Palisade deciding to burn it all down.
That basically sums up what I told a dude this morning on FB. I really have zero patience for any of these Neanderthals anymore. People are going to suffer.
The VP went to a fucking Ivy League, University presidents are caving left and right, while a TON of community support is being done by “uneducated” people right now.
Don’t you dare try to exempt the educated elite from this nonsense.
Fix your heart; you can be better than this.
I think it's less about being afraid of them and more about the liberal elite dropping the pretense that they care about the inclusion of minorities since it isn't an effective tool for corralling their votes any more.

Its almost poetic given disabled people are mostly invisible in day to day life 😞
I may be missing the point though (serious brain fog tonight)
The Nazis persecuted not only Jews, but other foreigners, dissenters, LGBTQ and the disabled.
They didn’t start with gas chambers. That was just when the work camps got too overcrowded.
Wake the hell up!

I saw several examples of “disability” missing from lists where it usually is. A few examples: https://bsky.app/profile/ashleemboyer.com/post/3lgdlut6wb22v
It’s a MUCH quieter shift than the general anti-DEI racism. It’s eerie how quiet it is. Like it’s being snuck in.
Wasn't me for once I learned my lesson.
Accessibility is woke?
Then there’s the trad wives who hate themselves or something.
There’s just so much fucking stupid I can’t even.

consumer capitalism wont make a change

"but i'm white and i'm not oppressing minorities!!!"
it's like walking up to a conversation about the patriarchy with "not all men" anywhere in your comment.
it's tone deaf, missing the point, and a weak cry of "pick me". it's not helpful, encouraging, or empathetic.

Hell of a coincidence is it not?
That'll show us!
