I’m in the market for a vacuum cleaner that actually works because I feel like most of them are like those little Barbie phones we give to kids like you’re just making noise so I feel like I’m doing something

I'll prob get crucified for mentioning Shark but we got a nicer model (that part is important. Their cheap ones are awful) for our wedding 7 years ago and besides a little normal wear and tear it has been great. And we use it very frequently with two kids and had a dog for a few years too
Second this, we have the corded (important) shark specifically for pet hair and long hair and as long as you clean out the canister and the filter regularly it works like a dream. Corded vacuums are generally gonna have more power and it’s worth the convenience trade off imo
I got fed up and went to the vacuum specialty store and got roped into spending a fortune on the Sebo and it is EVERYTHING. Carpet, hardwood, pet hair, all the magic. Zoom zoom.
Agitation brushes make vacuums way more efficient and effective. Whatever you get, it has to have brushes. A lot of the vacuums here in Germany don't, and they are worthless.
I have a rubber bristle broom that makes my hoover look like a pathetic, expensive, whimpering child by comparison. Absolutely goated at getting rid of pet hair that’s been mushed into a carpet
Pet hair is def a concern but the bigger villain is kitty litter which my cats are somehow the champions of tracking everywhere in the house and idk that a rubber bristle broom would help with that.
I haven’t found a solution to the litter tracking problem either, I got a comically big mat to sit outside their litter tray, do the hoover/brush combo, and whatever remains I close my eyes and try not to scream at
Highly recommend finding a vacuum shop instead of going online. You can find the really good vacuum manufacturers and the shop will give you a warranty (if it’s anything like my shop).
Alternatively, I’ve seen them sell on eBay if you’re looking for something secondhand
I feel that. But I can't complain too much about the vacuums we do have since they're my roomates'. Wish my cat would keep his litter to the box and mat I put out.
We have 2 Eufy vacs from the ol’ internet and one is quite good and the other is annoying but works OKish. can’t recommend the overall brand because of the inconsistency.
He says Dyson is great if multiple hundreds of dollars are in the budget, but Shark is what we use at home and what his friends in the general house-cleaning biz use on the job.
(Also! Your vacuum might just have a maintenance problem? Sometimes there's trouble-shooting to be done?)
