if that's what kept those people from voting, then they are complete idiots who will undoubtedly enjoy the find out period. I think they are entitled little shits, myself
The campaign really believed that there was some sort of "sensible Republican voter" when in reality they were all frothing at the mouth for the idea of concentration camps
I have what I call “quarterly check ins” with my dad and this week I mentioned that our funding is getting reduced and possibly further with who’s going to be in charge of public health and I could hear the gears turning in his mind. He realized he fucked up.
“what if we spend the last month parading around the country with one of the least charismatic, most hated politicians of this generation? you know, the iraq war, great recession era of politician?”
Getting off the "joy" brand was not good either . Campaigns are ads now. Political content secondary to eyes on tv. Harris never had a shot, though. She hit the gender and racial bias wall at 100mph with no seat belt .
that take feels a bit strained after giving trump a rainbow coalition and 3 cycles in a row of the democrat base getting whiter
i wonder what would happen if a black guy with a kenyan name ran a campaign without aggressively demobilizing the base. how would that look in practice. we'll never know
Look at data for percentages who voted. A stark view. I think this may cost all DEMs. votes. By being diverse by gender and race we represent America. White people are terrified of the take over . We need to brand that DEMs and diversity is good for America . Over and over and over
A true multiracial working class movement is the path forward. Tricky part is big Democratic donors are stuck in the past.
Electorate is significantly less white than it was in the 90s. Even in the 90s I think the Clintonites leaned too much on white identity politics (i.e., appeasing racists)
The theory was to make up for losing low propensity voters with high propensity but more moderate to conservative voters. It wasn’t a totally misguided strategy. Hopefully the democrats have finally learned that republicans vote for republicans no matter what.
She spent so much time, money, and energy trying to win votes that didn’t exist because there are no reasonable Republicans. She might as well have tried to win the votes of unicorns.
It will never not be baffling that the Rogan interview was scrapped because they feared a backlash from progressives but Liz Cheney was always on call to win them exactly zero votes
“Harris lost because of Trans issues and defund the police“ -The same people who thought centering Liz Cheney was a great idea and have to find a scapegoat asap
She thought she had all the typical Dem votes in the bag and just needed to siphon off a bunch of GOP voters looking for permission to reject Trump. It didn’t seem like a bad strategy at the time. I certainly didn’t expect Trump to broaden his voters after all that’s gone on. Did you?
Assuming that she had Dem voters in the bag and didn't need to do anything seemed like a bad idea at the time just like all the previous times it's failed.
The idea that a left-leaning party can shift right and leech votes off their rivals never works, people who want Republicans vote Republican.
Yeah, particularly when we’d *just* had an election in the UK where the left-wing party tried that, and got fewer votes than its more left-wing campaigns in 2017 and 2019. They only won as the right were the incumbents for a decade of economic collapse *and* the right vote was split.
She was elected VP to step in if Biden could no longer be president. Biden dropped out when it was too late to have a primary. If they put someone like Newsom in there, then that would have been forced on us. Just happened she took over for Biden as the candidate in an election. It makes sense.
It’s just matching the votes he got last time. Which isn’t good, as the electorate expands every four years due to newly naturalized citizens and young people reaching voting age.
Unfortunately, the Dems couldn’t even reproduce their 2020 number. I agree the Cheney stuff didn’t help!
A lot of people stayed home, which is frustrating but also means there is a path forward, that is, if the Dem leadership are actually interested in doing well enough in elections to govern
You're a few days of counting behind. He's so far gained over a million votes. Dems are currently about 8m down. They still shit the bed but Trump has gone up. Very short memories in the US.

If that doesn't show Republicans we're serious about Unity idk what will!

Ten times out of ten, they will choose trying to appeal to white voters even though it will alienate nonwhite voters.
Obama coalition did well, never win whites.

how about branding that DEMS hold their psychopath leadership accountable for genocide. give that a try once
Let's try for once being a fully commited forceful champion for the right values. If we do that, people will follow.

*(although republicans getting friendly fire from Ross Perot was likely a bigger factor in explaining the 1992 election)
