Swing voters are often characterized as “moderate,” even though every election shows us more and more that they’re really “change voters.” They’re not loyal to any ideology, they want something different, because the status quo isn’t working.

It is a parlor trick of the Yglesias, Shor, and Klein folks to constantly equate disaffected, low-propensity voters with their "centrism" or the sort of "moderate" thought that is just warmed over trickle-down economics.
It's just thinktankitis by kept men.
They're buying a lottery ticket to the good life, not a bus ticket to an improved one.
