the persistent daydream of liberals that somehow "good" republicans will rise up and save us is some of the most deluded shit I've seen online since the heyday of Mueller Time

Even your most fairweather Republican has at least one marginalized group they want to see crushed into nothingness - if they didn't, they wouldn't be a Republican in the first place
The thing is, it happened exactly once, when McCain did his Gladiator thumbs down on repealing Obamacare, and that was enough to fuel this delusion for another 20 years
And really, that one time seemed more like McCain was score settling with GOP colleagues he was beefing with, rather than him having some sense of right and wrong.
im pretty sure most of the "maverick mccain" mythology is just because he was mad at george w bush beating him in the presidential primaries by starting rumors he fathered an illegitimate black child.
and that only happened bc the GOP didn't actually want to repeal a giant giveaway to corporate America, their opposition to the ACA has always been performative lol
They're willing to give so much grace to these imaginary Moderates that might maybe one day finally jump ship, but are immediately ready to burn anyone at the stake who even considers agreeing with a Bernie Sanders quote.
Really just goes to show the priorities of the current Dem party, eh? 🤷
the "good" "moderate" republicans they're dreaming of are all democrats, the only people left in the Republican party are hardcore theocrats and fascists
Nancy Pelosi's dream of a Strong Republican Party has come true, to the detriment of all
lol I got radicalized when George W. Bush’s administration was trying to justify torturing “persons of interest” & suspended habeas corpus. There might be some good civilians who voted R, but I’ll never trust a republican politician again, after witnessing them gleefully abandon basic human rights.
And I wouldn’t characterize any of these Republicans as “good” - I would say Republicans that can no longer sustain the pressure of going along with stuff they know is unconstitutional, or clearly hurts their constituents. Like ending of ACA or S.Sec for example
You would think the thousandth time that Susan Collins expressed she concerns and then immediately turned around and signed onto the most insane policy of the Republican Party they would finally get the hint.

“We might not like this but we’re just the janitors, our Republican bestie bosses have to decide.”

I've been screaming about this from the mountain.
Not a single Republican has an ounce of loyalty to the Constitution. None. Anywhere.
Cooperation with fascism is fascism.
were you dropped on your head as an infant?
jesus christ grow up
