And honestly, I stayed on Twitter and tolerated the full spectrum of opinions/abuse and the result was just damage to my mental health rather than any positive good societally, so kind echo chamber it is.
Through 4-chan of course. And also the "Know Your Meme" Website. You start by photoshopping Ponies saluting the Swastika. Then comes the fanart. Then the "edgy" jokes.
Absolutely! It was *always* a bad faith accusation. Even people like me who followed some accounts for ‘balance’ would never fill their feed with people they disagree with. Left, centre or right - doesn’t matter, no one else is doing that. So they were all always echo chambers to a degree.
I haven't left Twitter. I refuse to cede ground to the enemies. I'm trolling them every chance I get😈 I love posting memes like this on Anthony Blinken's tweets🤣
I challenge the premise. “Echo chamber” implies a uniformity that ain’t happening here.
Yes it isn’t dominated by a malevolent opposition to my general worldview but neither are most places I go to online & IRL. But diversity abounds regardless.
did you see the "investigative journalist" who published a thread about the "shady origins" of bluesky's funding bc he didn't bother to read their blog posts lol
I do enjoy discussion and debate with all viewpoints, even conservative. On Twitter, you can’t get into that debate, it’s too toxic. I would welcome more conservative views here, but not so much angry MAGA ones, they’re not very reasonable.
Twitter was never about discourse and debate. It was already an echo chamber and a performative battleground. BlueSky is a fresh start. Hopefully we make better decisions this time.
My brother accuses me of all the rightwing talking points (blaming me for the low birth rate coz I'm getting a vasectomy was the latest) but when I offered him to share my Ground News membership he turned me down. They don't want you to broaden your views, they just hate being seen for what they are
Progressives need to organize and get on the same page if they plan on accomplishing anything politically so I don't see any issue with this site being that much-needed unifying catalyst, if in fact that's what happens.
This site won't be affecting many election results, however I don't think progressives moving further into echo chambers is a good strategy if they wanna reach out
No it isn’t. Anyone to the right of a self-identified progressive (a moderate conservative) has nothing to say that will improve anyone’s life or provide any perspective other than why immigrants are to blame for all our problems.
Not all opinions are valid. Not all opinions deserve an audience.
Yeah I don’t care that people think this is an “echo chamber”. If being here keeps people mentally sane, able to keep fighting the good fight, and able to continue their fandoms, then it is ultimately better than the fascist breeding ground that Twitter has become.

It's basically a template at this point
They only need the first foothold

Bipartisanship is a ridiculous fantasy. There is no compromise between “it should be legal to hunt trans people” and “anything but that.”
