It was already true before all of this, but the objectification of Salvadorians — people dehumanized into a thing through which disconnected experts can further show off their legal theories and editorial prowess — has somehow hit new heights.

SCOTUS cited Reno v Flores, a case fired by four Salvadorian teenagers 40 years ago! Salvadorian people, including children, have fundamentally shaped the social, legal, and political contours of the U.S.
We hear *about* Salvis but don’t hear *from* Salvis. Again: diversify your go-to experts.
Confused by part of this but pretty interesting about Salvadorians shaping so much. My daughter’s best friend is descended from parents who fled in the 80s. I wonder if they know about the case 40 years ago.
Happy to engage about the parts that may be confusing, and promise I’ll do so in good faith.
I’d venture to say anyone who paid attention to zero tolerance/family separation in 2018 knows about the Flores case (the resulting settlement was often referenced x Trump, attorneys, advocates, reporters).
