Thank you for this. I have been looking for a lot more of this from everything, not just video games.

So much of our media is just fantasy, some times with a sheen of techno on it and none of it seems to be interested in looking beyond the basic assumptions of our current Western Capitist hegemony

Nicely put.
Games inform our worldviews and even our politics.
Imagining a world where people can flourish, is as important as fighting those who not only want to be an obstruction to that world, but work make the world worse for most right now.
Games can show the possible as well as the fight

This is a game I'll just keep exalting here, but as a citybuilder, I really like Against the Storm for this: it's a game ultimately about making people happy and making things better, even if you're staring down existential threats.
