Planted the overwintered-in-pots columbine out front where it can perform its solemn duty of being an attractive and conventional plant that is incidentally native.
And also did a lot of winter sowing potting up. #nativeplants π±

π₯² and I love it so much!!
My main suspicion is that itβs more salt-intolerant than Iβd thought, because where Iβve put it so far is an area that floods 2-3 times a year with brackish water. I know theyβre not a salt LOVING plant but thought I had more wiggle room than perhaps I do π
Same reason Chelone glabra is a bad pick for sunny rain gardens.
But I am not confident I have a wet enough spot for the blue vervain to live its best life. But I love it so will try it a bunch of places and see what happens.
The only spot I've seen it growing wild around here was in a moist meadow and it was Very Tall and majestic. I yearn for as gorgeous an outcome π does yours get tall?
