Trades. I have a psychology degree and I don’t work in the field. Skilled trades are practical and they are needed. If we don’t get more people into trades, we’re going to have a society of YouTubers .

Should we continue to encourage kids to go to college ? Or push them to take up a trade ?

I believe in college. Learning how to learn, IMO, is a critical life skill. Being exposed to people of different backgrounds, makes yiu wiser

Qualifier- it should be a school you can afford.
