I can confidently report that gangrenous choelecystitis and accompanying complications is no picnic and will be returning to hospital in the new year to have my gallbladder removed. (This is in response to those who asked!) From A&E onwards, the hospital staff were FANTASTIC.

That all the scans, medications and procedures were free at source, with consultants explaining everything along the way, is wonderful. If I'd been in the States, I'd probably be selling the hovel to try to cover the bills about now.

I'd also like to thank my wife, Héloïse, who - amongst other things - took charge of opening my advent calendar everyday and sending me a photo of the picture that lay behind that day's door.
