Switched from a 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance.
I wanted something that was better constructed, and designed to do anything that I can throw at it.
Plus, I align more with Rivian’s mission than Tesla’s (not including Elon’s…whatever you want to call it).
The car is super responsive. The ride quality is great, especially for a truck. Software stack is good. Not quite on par with Tesla, but it’s become WAY better in the 7 months I’ve been an owner, and keeps getting better with each update.
Still on orig. brake pads.

Yet, markets discounting:
- US OEMs seem to be ahead of Trump risk,
- Lots of Rs want to keep battery, new plants in their states
- Significant battery materials cost savings in few years, offsetting possible $7500 ira loss.
Going to buy an EV for our company soon.
ie: ~1/2 of all registered #PEVs are less than ~2.5 years old.
The top “high volume” models have dominated. (Y, 3, S, Bolt, LEAF are examples depending on year)

Brands with an EV model production that exceeds 100k will be notable automotive industry leaders. Brands with >50k of EV model are competitive.
Those with <50k EV models are not plugged-in to market.
In 2017, I searched out the highest mileage one I could find on Craigslist on the basis that the market was misspricing battery depreciation. I was able to get a basically new car (~90k miles but ~98% of original range) for 60% off sticker.
Just took it on a almost 5k road trip with no major issues other than some NACS adapter issues and poor cell service in Wyoming.
