These are gorgeous!! I too, have a hella shady side yard and would love to get some roses going there. What type are these and do you do anything special for the giant blooms?

I did A LOT of trial & error and killed more roses than I'd like to admit. What's working for me right now are The Generous Gardener and the Alnwick. Alnwick really prefers full sun, but for some reason I can get it to bloom more often than other supposed shade-liking roses. Both are by David Austin

These I planted in 2022. This is the first year there's been more than just a couple of blooms. I keep the plants small & trim back every winter (like not even knee height.) My theory is this will help keep the energy on the blooms. Is this a good theory? 🤷‍♀️

However once they reach the 5 year mark, since they'll be more established, I'm going to let them grow a little taller and see if they can maintain both blossoms and height. I fertilize in the winter with good organic fertilizer, then top up in the spring with easier-to-use liquid fertilizer.

I really don't know what I'm doing at all and just kept killing roses until I found varietals and a routine that worked haha. Good luck with your roses and when in doubt, there's always camellias 😄
