There's an entire subset of folks that have only seen like Evangelion or, at one point Gurren Lagaan, and proclaimed them the only good anime of the genre of "giant robots" and it's like I dunno maybe watch some other stuff just for reference. my take on gundam watch order and what gundam is about is that i do not want to see takes on this from people who aren't also watching braves or tsuburaya shit or 70s-80s nonsense like the nagahamas or j9 trilogy

It'll always weird me out when people who go "BRO MECHA RULES" and they only bring up Eva or GL, for someone like say, me who grew up seeing a bunch of the Romantic Trilogy (at least 2 out of 3 of them), a bunch of the Eldorans and a little GGG but in Mandarin lol.

honestly the "don't like mecha except Eva & Gurren Lagann" fan is what I see most in my experience? However it has been pointed out to me that my friends who got me into Gundam are the types who go wild when Discotek licenses Intergalactic Defender Linguini, so selection bias
