It's interesting because in the UK there was always a Star Wars movie and Bond movie on TV at Christmas (sometimes multiple) to the point that satelite channels set aside marathon channels for them (and later Potter movies). Xmas was when the huge 'network premieres' would be - always behind!

I need to add, it's also why pretty much everyones tapes for most movies recorded off TV would all have Christmas adverts and news of the Boxing Day sales!

Half-way through the year you'd watch a tape of Stripes and suddenly Santa was back hawking festive merch. This was accepted norm.

New Hope had three guys following a Death Star and then dropping a surprise down a chimney - very Christmassy. Empire had planet of snow and they (awkwardly) had family round for dinner on Bespin - very Christmassy. Jedi had fat guy on a sled (well, barge) and visit by three ghosts - so Christmassy.

Not to echo too much, but

Act 1 of “Bart v. Tgiving” captures the reality/mundane nature of the day. Maggie literally watches TV.

“Home Alone” gets the nod because TBS used to show it Tgiving night. Good segue.
