I know there’s a lot right now. But folks need to understand what this means.

A suspension this long would mean people living with HIV lose their medicine for months. People around the world lose their PrEP for months, putting millions at risk of getting HIV. Drug-resistant strains could emerge.

This is horrifying. I was working on aids research in the 80s when nothing, nothing was available. HIV being reclassified as a manageable chronic condition (90s? I had shifted to onc by then) was such a goddamned success.

Yup! It was the 90s. When I started med school in 92, it was still very bleak. By the time I did my ID rotation as a second year resident in 97, HIV had become a manageable chronic disease.
