Homelessness is a very, very complicated issue. Many homeless reject alternatives. Some are desperate for them.

Provide alternatives, don't just outlaw living. Put up a tent city with food, medical, mental, transportation, training, job services.

If he announced that he was going to ask the legislature for funds to build tiny homes for the homeless and provide wrap around services to address the issues that got them there, be it physical, mental health, substance abuse, I suspect that more democratic primary voters would like him.

It’s also politically self-defeating. When encampments pop back up in other blue states (because if they go to red states they get bussed to a blue state), you still get tarred with the “out of control homeless” brush even when it’s not happening near you. Just allergic to solving problems.
