when you describe someone as having privilege or advantage you are not demeaning them, speaking as someone who has benefited tremendously from both privilege and advantage

I never had to work in my teens to support my family, this is already “privilege” even if it might seem “normal” to many people
You may be avoiding all sorts of nonsense... but you can have a whole life's worth of misery with or without privilege. Life is like that.
That doesn't mean that it's not important to talk about privilege when it applies, which is often!
OTOH the folks who get that 13% are mostly white dudes and they are invested in keeping it, to the point that they've enabled that 87% figure to go on a long time.
