Yep. "See and be seen" is apparently the "key for kids safety" , not "city lowers speeds limits in residential areas " when I interact with the local car-uncles on a local forum following a city survey about speed limits

In the most common zoning in Seattle you are required to build parking for your house. It can't be in your "required front yard" nor your "required side yard."

So, the most prominent feature of most new homes is a paved yard to make way to the giant garage built under the house.

Dumb, ugly, bad.
