Interestingly, I remember a long demonstration from a friend on how calculations of revenues from creative works tend to be inaccurate and massively underestimate the actual amount these industries generate, as if econometrics somewhat did not care to properly capture their value.

It’s like they want the hostile environment back, but for freelance creatives. The tin ear around this issue is frightening and aggressive. I worry about it. It’s not like anyone needs to make it *harder*. But that seems to be the aim.

Seriously, the lack of respect for writers, musicians, designers and artists is staggering in the UK, considering how many global cultural phenomena originated or have tangible links here. The Beatles, Harry Potter, GTA - all bestsellers. Not to mention film directors! Nolan, Scott, Hitchcock etc.
