Looking for some recommendations……
Is anyone successfully using a free app on iPhone that plots an area on a map via walking it on the ground? Eg field, woodland compartment etc
Thank you!

I can’t justify that for the bits and pieces I do.
Our peatland restoration interventions were recorded by our contractors, by doing exactly as you describe - walking along the intervention (in this case peat bunds) while the app tracks them”
“Measures transects in the field. Areas. Sets points with fields that you add. You can import shp files from qgis and use the app to navigate to predetermined points etc”
“Landapp only has app access with paid subscription I think? Good for digitising from satellite map though (on website, free). I use QField for GPS mapping but it requires a bit of set up - very powerful but not v intuitive. Imagine there are simpler things around”
QField will do what you’re asking for but is clunky, requires effort to set up and GIS knowledge
Things like Land App are superb and UK specific due to their integrating with Rural Payments Agency land parcel data
I used a great free land plotting app for fields, but it struggled with accuracy under woodland canopy
Now I rarely use it at all, but it is better than nothing and it's free.

Happy plotting.
Much appreciated.
