How will women deliver the babies the state wants to force them to have? Do they really want to go back to the era when the infant mortality rate was much higher? (~ 20% in the first quarter of the 20th century).
Is that what puts the G in MAGA? It sounds like they are trying to extinct themselves.

Iowa has already seen it. 1/3 of the counties are considered maternity care deserts with no direct access to OBs or birthing hospitals/centers. The state has the lowest number of ob/gyns per capita in the nation.

Going to get worse quickly. Many poor communities rely on doctors who came w/ education visas from other countries. Immigration crackdown going to end that supply. Cuts to Medicaid, more losses. And threatening to jail OBs, more losses. Family medicine docs going to be swamped and underprepared.

15 years ago, Iowa was one of the first states to adopt telemedical abortion. Now abortion is illegal at 6ish weeks. I think that gives a pretty solid idea of how fast the regression has occured. And it's only going to get worse.

This was my experience. I was fortunate to be able to move from TX to NY last year while waiting to hear back if my baby would carry Tay Sachs (thankfully not the case!)
