Last thing, people don't actually know 'what will have an effect.' They simply do not. Do what you believe must be done within your capacity and do it with others. Be an agent rather than a pundit.

A famous person I knew years ago refused to write an autobiography because he said that they’re all the same and can be reduced to “I was right”.
The point’s that most historic events happen for many random, often unconnected, sometimes seemingly trivial reasons. Lots of butterflies flapping wings
That's so spot on! I tend towards ennui with the autobiographical format for this reason. The rare exceptions come from people using it to make focused interventions: breaking cultural silences, building survivor communities and amending historical erasures.
I'm Glad My Mom Died was such a gift for me when I went through losing my abusive father and was in the infancy of my therapy journey to deal with the complicated emotions that inspires. Having a (funny) person out there saying it out loud made me feel like I wasn't a monster.
Another suggestion I like is... Instead of calling, we should be filling up Congress' comment threads on all socials, demanding town halls (so it is public & they can't ignore / others see). In-person / virtual, doesn't matter. Both dem & MAGA reps need to be answering to the people regularly.
Last week, I posted twice on a dem Senator's page asking him to answer for his (many) votes for Trump's cabinet. His constituents saw it and went to work demanding a town hall. Now he has one scheduled for this Thursday! ❤️
When most advice is just telling you to call your representative, but they are still voting for these awful people & bills, it can feel overwhelming, like you don't have agency.
I love this guide because it gives us all a chance to participate in the resistance in meaningful ways. ❤️
thank you! i’ve been saying this all week long 🤍 especially in terms of “communication strategies” — we just have to TRY and we all have to try in our own ways
