I think some of the folks who are saying “no one is…” will find they aren’t actually the only ones doing it if they bothered to do the work themselves.
And take into account that the media is heavily suppressing any coverage of the actions going on outside of the Tesla incidents. There are actions and protests going on almost non-stop across the country, but they just aren't being covered prominently, sometimes not at all.
Resisters call in sick on 3/19/25. Truckers, bus and train drivers, unions, air traffic controllers, pilots, cabbies, IT, manufacturing, etc. Please stay home as long as possible. This action will help to get our message against tyranny out and show the world we won’t allow this takeover.
I love to have new ideas for stuff someone* should do but I try to live by the Lesbian Avengers organizing maxim that if you bring an idea to the group you should be prepared to do it.
TL; DR? As always, @prisonculture.bsky.social tells it like it is. LFG!
I really liked that Chris Hayes just SAID a bunch of important stuff about the constitution and the fact that the people are the real power on his show the other night. He didn’t say that Dems should say it! He used HIS platform to say it. If you want people to say a thing, you say it!
DO can mean so many things and doesn't have to exhaust anyone. DO can be anything as long as it serves aid, community, connection, or action. The only unhelpful doing is doing nothing.
I feel badly about this because I’m asking people to get out and protest because I can’t (primarily bed bound w/long COVID). I’m doing what I can and wish I could be out there. I was an every-time protester before reaching this level of disability. I wanted to be in the streets protesting on Nov. 6.
You can help on the phone if you're able. Be a point of contact for people out doing actions. Maybe talk to someone about helping with the legal issues that arise afterwards. There's still a lot we can do no matter what level of ability we're at. Facing disability is hard, but together it's better.
Thank you! Serving as a point of contact for people out doing actions is a great idea I hadn't thought of. I've been calling my representatives daily, attending virtual organizing meetings, and helping connect people to community resources. I'm adding your suggestion to the list of things I can do!❤️
Privileged ppl hate the word “privilege.”
Entitled ppl hate the word “entitled.”
Entitlement felt by the privileged wants risk to be taken by others.
EzraKlein said “one side can’t make govt work; the other is trying to destroy it.”
The privileged need to wake up & see that their entitlement is GONE
Frankly I would love to go off some of these nazi fucks on their podiums.
You wanna buy me a few hunting rifles? I can’t afford them.
Should I start a kickstarter and just be really really obvious about it?
While we still have this beautiful Internet, a Google search can show multitudes of things that can be done. “how can i uphold democracy when i can't protest?” is a start. Things may be recommended, but do your part and look for ways on your own too. 💓
If you go to the OP's page and search, there's a guide there OP wrote called something along the lines of actions you can take besides protesting or voting. Very much worth checking out.
But mariame, my turn with the space laser isn't for WEEKS. (i tease, I tease. 💖)
I'm ordering a batch of the book "Hitler's Canary" this week to hopefully inspire exactly this sort of action - a lot of small meaningful acts add up so fast. We have to stop abdicating.

I may just be a salty old dog, with little money and few contacts, but I’ll not hand my children over to fascism without fighting to my last breath.

Like volunteering and what kind of volunteering and what books about the civil rights era are useful
I am in TX and I cannot miss work for protests if I wanna keep my bills paid, I'm sure many others are in similar situations and need guidance.

weird that this disconnect between "self" and "other" is so vast (and yet so unsurprising)
