So I’ve mostly ignored this person, because obviously you wanna get on this app and say that matty et al are persecuted, you clearly have a humiliation thing going, and I don’t need to participate in that. But I do want to say something about this.

people are famously normal in this country about tax policy related to caffeinated drinks

this was very good. a striking, almost unifying theme of the right these days - in economics, in science, in foreign affairs, whatever - is the deliberate rejection of hard-won knowledge that has overall made our lives almost infinitely better

to agree with the Bruenig piece, you have to accept the premise that continued human presence on earth requires us to be concerned with white birthrates, because otherwise there's no problem to be solved

You cannot overstate the disproportionate violence trans people experience in carceral facilities (outside of them as well). These laws rolling back well-established and hard-fought-for condition for trans people are just unbearably cruel.

How it started // How it’s going

" The questions about the dollar are longer term, though the dysfunction of the international financial architecture itself has solidified doubts which should be entering people’s minds for other reasons. In particular, the Trump-Musk Payments Crisis."

This is especially bullshit when it comes to trans rights, considering everything the right complains about (trans women playing in women’s sports, kids receiving puberty blockers and hormonal treatment, people using restrooms as they see fit) was NOT brand new, but was in fact the status quo

The thing I haven't heard that's alarming me is that people are generally not saying 'when u elect me/my party i'm going to bring back everything they eliminated/turn everything back on again.' as we found out in michigan, when something is gone, it stays gone. and that's too horrible to think abt.

musk's post genuinely only makes sense if you adhere to jesse watters's theory that using a computer for your job will make you a lady

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa as an organization grows in size it requires brains who are dedicated to communicating and coordinating the other brains aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i've mentioned this before, but one of the things that makes musk so incredibly unsuited to his role at doge is that he doesn't understand any of the things he thinks he's fixing (and i do think he believes that, it's what makes everything worse)

the fragilest projectingest motherfuckers ever to walk this planet

this is the no fucking shit of all no fucking shits and yet barely anyone anywhere is saying it.

"This is a belief system that is genocidal at its core and treasonous to the wonder and beauty of this world." Excellent synthesis (unsurprisingly)

More in No, Other People: New poll: “America would be better off if more people worked in manufacturing.” • 80% of Americans agree • 20% disagree “I would be better off if I worked in a factory.” • 25% of Americans agree • 73% disagree • 2% currently work in a factory

A huge honor to get to write something with my hero @naomiaklein.bsky.social. We wish it was a happier topic, but it's an urgent one. We dove deep into the apocalyptic fervor of the far right to issue a warning about the rise of End Times Fascism. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

We need to shift people from low to negative productivity jobs in anti-woke punditry to high productivity jobs in bureaucracy

holding hands..... 🥺

"oh no, this'll make the right wing mad!" Buddy they get into a frothing rage over like, cereal mascots and cartoon characters and the mere existence of gay people and what oil a French fry is cooked in and women knowing how to read, etc. They'll get mad anyway, no matter what. Tell em to fuck off

there was literally an Axis conference where the Nazis offered each of the members (plus the Soviets, whom Ribbentrop wanted to invite to the alliance) an exclusive slice of the conquered territories of the Eastern Hemisphere! world conquest was literally their raison d'etre!

“the left” does not need to engage more with a movement of eugenicists and child abusers. wtf are we even talking about here.

i will continue banging the drum that a place that is actively cultivating marginalized voices (not saying bluesky is even good in this regard, yet... but it's better than twitter) is going to end up with a greater degree of ideological diversity than the place that celebrates anti-trans activists

The American tendency to react with seething rage and jealousy to upper-level workers and managers and then treat the Big Boss with fawning adoration and sycophancy is extremely Psychological.

We cannot tolerate Dems who want to just “turn the page” and “focus on the future”. Merrick Garland is how we fucking got here. Swift, hard legal accountability for all these people is absolutely the only way forward Also ICE must be abolished, that is not an extreme fringe position

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process. This is not lawful.

yes. I primarily experience my ADHD meds as a mood stabilizer. like yeah, it does help me get stuff done, but a huge part of that is being so much calmer and more able to handle anxiety/distress.

Consistently the best advice I read online for making my brain do things comes from here: divergentcoachkelly.substack.com/p/how-to-do-...

oh jesus CHRIST

I wonder how many international conferences will rethink their venues, or switch to an online gathering.

On a recent flight my seatmates learned I was a writer and asked my opinion on AI. They didn't understand genAI is based on work stolen from authors, and they DEFINITELY didn't know about the energy costs. Both shocked them. People just don't know.
