It's been a long day so far but I am really encouraged because people are in motion everywhere. Also, while many institutions are acting with cowardice, lots of individual people are not.

Heading to a rally Saturday down by the Post Office. Third protest in my little town in the last 4 weeks and so far numbers are surprisingly good. Energizing to think this is going on in small and medium size cities all around the country, even if MSM can't bother to cover it.
I made some new trans friends from a local support group. When I became consumed with fear last night about living openly or losing my gender affirming care, I messaged our group chat, and they came together to reassure me. We're going to be okay.
My workplace tracks activism in a weekly survey, and we were baffled that people reporting attending protests was way higher than we were expecting in 2025 so far.
So that's (a) interesting and (b) weirdly not getting reported on. My son's school is closed tomorrow for a teacher walkout.
Yes. Harnessing “that feeling” can wind up with who’s in office but it can also energize those who usually don’t pay attention &c with enough umbrage to launch. The alchemy of getting them when, when what is hurting, and who’s hurting them.
A teacher in a conservative district told us today they had students look up some of the people they'd just learned about in history class (like Jackie Robinson, Navajo Codetalkers, & more) on DOD website. Students were shocked to see they'd been removed. #CriticalLiteracy
One of my school partners has a dedicated room for a community pantry and it’s in a state of disarray. I asked some friends and neighbors to come help clean it today. They not only cleaned the room but immediately made a plan to regularly come clean and raise funds for supplies 😭😭
After some deep thinking, I stepped away from a DEI council today that was "rebranding." Going to focus on protests & survival in my personal life where I can bring my full authentic self. But I am also a lil bummed. Didn't feel right, tho...
Had OBGYN appt today & she’s obviously known my kids forever & immediately asked about most impacted kid & it was so amazingly compassionate & well informed & all the things she’s scared about too. It sucks we both feel this way—but was a very weirdly empowering Pap smear.
