I consistently remind people about NY politics when they talk about other states. NY politic is rancid. The governor is pathetic, the Mayor of NYC is a corrupt cop, etc... No one in this state should ever open their mouth to talk about other people in other states re: political leadership.

We don't have strong Blue State leaders willing to stand up to the MAGA Nazis even where we should have them. Instead we have oppressive center right governments run by fascist appeasers.
Republican brand is a non-starter in NYC, so anyone who would be a Rep anywhere else runs as a Dem in NY. That's why you have things like the IDC ruining the State Senate for years.
Hochul, Adams, and the IDC are all Republicans.
All you have to do is look around NY and you'll see why that strategy only helps the politicians stay in their seats, and not the people.
The whole state party is an absolute shitshow, but these two have a special role in it.

It fails to explain Adams/Hochul/Gillibrand/Schumer
They're not nearly as *actively* gerrymandered as anywhere that the R's do it. It's mostly a product of natural population concentration in the single largest city in the country. Hard to counterbalance that.
NY isn't innocent by any means, but it's not the problem you think it is.
Clear "R" ideologues like them usually don't get traction, even here. It's the Third Way type Dems like Cuomo, Gillibrand (and Rahm) that are more pernicious.
Like, you know that's the NYPD, right?
look at that fuckin governor
