Minnesota gal💙, here!
I deactivated my social media sites the day after the election.
I loved Threads…What’s happened to it?
I bet those ‘X’ dicks who were starting to migrate over, wrecked it.
I’ll try Bluesky🤷♀️
Yay. People don’t realize that keeping X benefits Elon. High user numbers help him to attract Ads and make him more money. Not that it really hurts him he needs but it’s satisfying to take them away from him.
Threads had such a promising start but they ruined it with the same algorithmic bullshit that I’ll tolerate on Instagram but does not work for a text-based platform. And Zuck is evil, so there’s that.
Ah ha so that’s why I keep getting an error code every time I try to deactivate X. There are more here with same issues so spread this information on. Thanks!
I joined Threads because it wasn’t Twitter. Then Threads started suspending people/deleting posts etc. critical of Trump. For me it was just deactivating anything of Zuckerberg’s.
Been on here <24 hours and already am hearing of the deleted posts on certain topics of social justice & extensive block lists to maintain the 🦋🦄🌈 feel here.
The @bsky.app updates note they are also expanding their team to combat some of those negatives. It just feels good not to be feeding the Zuckerberg guy.
Good to know. I deactivated threads . I didn’t like that it was linked to IG and it was just ‘odd’. X was just toxic so I’m hoping this place will be a good source for real news and light hearted banter.
The era of ONE platform use is over. One must be everywhere but X/Twitter and Truth Social...
Threads spawned many valuable communities and developed the culture of civil positivity that, appears is not present on Bluesky. The anger of X/Twitter migrated here with former Twitterati.
I prefer one platform. And my choice is Bluesky. I do not need to be everywhere.
I do not agree "the anger" migrated here. My experience overall has been the total opposite. Also, it takes a good bit of time to develop communities. Bluesky is well on the way to doing that.
if you're looking for a culture of civil positivity, your first mistake is looking for it in the internet. It's not here, never was, never will be. If people were happy they wouldn't be spending so much time online. It's a choice to use these platforms or not, I'm generally against it.
Yup. Busts into a party already in-progress, yells out "this party is ALL WRONG, we should CHANGE IT!" and then gets upset when everyone tells them to buzz off.
I am locked out of Twitter as of yesterday. I can't even open the X website because all I get is "try again later". Other devices say the same. I can't get into my account. I guess that's ONE way to leave them.
About 5 months ago, I realized just how evil Musk is and coupled with the tidal wave of RWNJs poisoning the intellectual "well" I grew accustomed to on Twitter, I knew I had to deactivate my account.
I have zero regrets! I was thrilled to find Blue Sky this past week!! 😁
Wow. From here on out, "cutting the cord" will be taking on a whole new meaning. Glad you're here, Jen! We'll be planning a "watch X burn to the ground" viewing party soon.
Please talk about how Russia helped 🍊win. Don’t ignore it. Please don’t sweep it under the rug. I think that’s how we needed up here. Like Hillary said 🍊is a clear and present danger to the US
Xhitter. Nazi Musk will eventually complete the swastika logo (the X is on its way to being turned into a swastika).
Hitler hated unions, Musk hates unions.
Deactivating Twitter was so much easier and so much more soothing than I thought it would be. Just not sharing space with so many trolls is liberating.
In mid 2020 there was a facebook walk out and people seemed to be leaving it en masse. I de facto stopped using it awhile before that , that time I officially cut it, and also twitter out. I made a handful of replies on X, but cutting out most social media was the best move I've made in years
Yeah I load up facebook when I have a very specific reason , like wanting to sell something on the marketplace, or getting in contact with someone I only have on there. Otherwise, it appears everyone I used to be friends with has become some sort of freak that I'd rather not engage with.
It seemed all the wonderful people I've been following for ages had spread to the four corners of the earth. It's so nice to have/be getting them all back to one place.
I saw a Thread post where Donald Trump was really nasty about Scarborough's visit to Marlago. I posted that I was ashamed of Trump and posted Clinton's ad of children watching
Threads deactivated my account. Is Threads turning to the dark side?

Here's another elected Dem on here, since you mentioned a day or two ago that you'll deactivate X once Dem electeds migrate here and you reach a critical mass of followers: @senatorheinrich.bsky.social
I liked that all the NASCAR drivers were on it and there was a good WNBA following and one great account on Excel shortcuts, one on improving ppt slides and one on the drink for a day. The rest are all here and the refresh rate is so much faster.

I have a couple of quotes I want to grab
Feeling settled on BlueSky. I think it's time to boot X.

You should not be surprised that you are getting pushback from the people who were already here and like the place the way it is.
Grow up.
Johnny come lately trying to dictate terms.
