They're probably afraid of being shot, or pushed to the ground and have their necks stepped on untiltheir airway is cut off, or being deported to CECOT with no due process. If I had to guess.
Most people were White and older at the protest I attended. Probably retired so don’t have to worry about politics interfering with their jobs and have the time to do this. Plus us older White women of a certain age are “invisible.”
I appreciate Ms. Young’s perspective. I was a little surprised by how few people of color were at the Hands Off rally in our town. Her reasoning would go a long way to explain that.
Hmmm. Anyone remember what happened with the BLM demonstrations? Anyone? A scared white boy, enabled by his parents, shot people dead. No legal consequences for the poor, scared, brain-washed 'kid'. Remember, he's the face of the recruiting poster, a hero of the cult.
Because yt ppl put these assholes in power again. It's not up to black people to bail our pasty butts out yet a-freaking-gain. We need to actually show the fuck up and do something because we broke the system.
93%of the Black women voted for Kamala while 53% of white women (the larger voting bloc of the two groups) voted for Trump + 60% of white men voted for him. So, there's no need to minimize this. White majorities have voted for him three times. It's long overdue that we white folks step up & fix it.
Black women are right. White people got us into this mess. Because they are uneducated, foolish, easily duped racists. I’d welcome their help, but I get it. We are so fucked.
I can only imagine the fear. Fear ingrained. Fear of just driving while black. Time for whites to step up and make good trouble. We were given the roadmap, time to use it.
Because white people are the problem. No one should be demanding that Black people show up, they've put their asses in the line, over and over again, just to be ignored over and over again.
They need US to show up for THEM for a freaking change
This is true, but as a white person myself... it is fellow white folks who have to stand up to white supremacy and say we won't take it. Black people are doing the work but I don't blame em to not protest in the current climate.
We have to stand up, speak out, demonstrate, and put pressure on elected leaders to save ourselves between now and November 2026, then show up and vote. No excuses.
Should my biracial nephew not protest to try to save his (white) mother's Social Security and Medicare?
Because they’ve been protesting long & hard for decades. Abolition, breaking Jim Crow, voting rights for men, then for women, then equal education, civil rights, voting rights, women’s rights, labor rights, equal pay, policing non-white bodies…
Comments
We did enough
Obviously, white peoples have more to lose this time around. Their investments, retirement savings, healthcare and cheap import profits.
Black folks want equal housing, voting rights and equal opportunity, or, maybe
just some Skittles and an ice tea.
Remember.

This is a fight between democracy and fascism, and losing is not an option.
Trump's plans to overturn the 14th Amendment aren't a motivator?
Removal of people of color and women from the military leadership isn't a motivator?
Defiling the true history of the Underground Railroad isn't a motivator?
Should my biracial nephew not protest to try to save his (white) mother's Social Security and Medicare?
It’s time we have their back. Give them a break.
