Last minute nerves for my daughter sitting the SEAG transfer test in NI. Whilst I (perhaps controversially) think that tests are ‘ok’ and *can* build resilience, the level, pressure, system and setup of these is horrendous. 🧵🪡

She has been working from January. January! Doing questions which wouldn’t be dissimilar to GCSE level, as a ten year old. With all the changes and stress and upcoming worry around transition to secondary.
My son’s school started prep for it via an after school club from the first week of P6 - madness! Surprised the kids aren’t completely burnt out by this stage.
Her school have been amazing. But the pressure on kids due to the design and system is something else. From little things like “if you are 1 minute late to the preparation time you will not be allowed to sit the test”, to “sit two papers. We add them up. That’s your score”.
