It's weird to read about Trump's plans to close down federal government functions, sell off federal lands and buildings, and close American consulates abroad--like, is America disappearing? It's having a going out of business sale? 🥹

An apt analogy, except the Trump regime is throwing open the doors for their cronies anywhere on the planet to loot rather than trying to get value for the investors (the citizens).
I wish I could remember the old movie in which a guy is knocked on the head and wakes up to find he's wealthy. And so, he immediately begins ripping himself off.
The epitome of corporate America: by a company, sell it off for parts, make a lot of money for the executive staff(at the expense of employees, product, quality, and sustainability of what’s left), leave chaos and ruin in the wake. Strange how this behavior mimics the rise of the Russian oligarchy.
Like, res publica--those are the public's things. Trump's government is supposed to take care of the public's things, not sell them off to Robber Baron Oligarchs. Who decided to let the private equity folks run the government? NO ONE.

The closing of consulates pricked my ears. Is he ultimately trying to make it more difficult, or scary, for Americans to travel abroad? It certainly isn't a "power" move.
I just had a dark thought: where are those 240k Ukrainians going to be deported *to*? Because Putin doesn't believe Ukraine is real; those "Ukrainians" are actually Russians to his way of thinking.
Especially weird when it's not prompted by anything specific. Just pretending we're in a crisis because some guy got elected (who is turning it into an actual crisis, don't get me wrong).
The even more unintelligent part is the people around him, including big donors, making their beds with an authoritarian foreign adversary and thinking when the US is weak and full of internal issues, the adversary is not going to make sure to finish the US.
They learned nothing about history.
