Your fiction to non-fiction ratio is way out of whack. Non-fiction is good for the brain but fiction is good for the soul! I would start with anything by Claire Keegan and go from there :) Also maybe a book of poetry . . .
Not everybody enjoys fiction. And the idea that you canβt get something soulful from non-fiction is ridiculous. I read 46 books this year, all non fiction (40ish of them being history, the rest science). Have no desire to pick up a fiction book since I donβt care about stories.

Air-Borne, by @carlzimmer.bsky.social (bottom of your stack) hasn't been available to (almost all) of us (including me) in 2024! Amazon promises it on March 3.
Itβs not a recent book, but Iβm constantly re-reading β12 Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospitalβ. by Dr Eric Manheimer, MD. Itβs a memoir that is an actual blueprint for fixing our healthcare system. βNew Amsterdamβ was based on the memoir.
Thanks for sharing your list. I will have a look at some. Out of the nine books only one is authored by a woman. An interesting statistic, perhaps a fluke.
The audiobook for "How Life Works" was great. Audiobooks might be problematic where diagrams are useful, but they can still work. Currently reading "Hoof Beats" by William T Taylor, which is also good.
Try these out and let us know what you think. You can even listen to the audiobooks while on the track or the treadmill.
Spoiler alert: itβs the food, itβs the food, itβs the food.
