There’s so much potential improvements to infrastructure in these regions, even just building more bridges and causeways between islands and the mainland will see major connectivity improvements seeing the issues that have been had with the ferries recently

You should be able to drive/bus between all the islands in the OH, Shetland (except Fair Isle) and Orkney, The IH should have bridges connecting to the mainland even if it involves island hopping (I.e. Islay-Jura-Slate islands-Mainland), I’d even go as far to extend rail onto Skye

100%. Was thinking this when waiting for the rail replacement bus home after the Partick game. Fair enough, the line was shut to improve the drainage and make it more resilient, but there was no signage for the bus, no staff, and no bus until 5 mins before departure. Treated with total contempt.
