This is really excellent advice on how to do peer review, which is relevant to all fields of study.

Being constructive, respectful and professional matters: helping the authors to improve their work is much more important than showing yourself how clever and witty you can be with your put-downs.

Some tips for reviewers...
Don't just focus on the bad. What did you like about the paper?
Be constructive - what can the author do to improve the paper?
Be respectful, even if you didn't like the paper.
If the paper is trying to be a square don't reject it because it isn't a circle.
