Sorry, that was a little bit of insider talk. A 'pantser' is a writer who improvises their book as they go along. As opposed to a 'plotter' who plans the whole thing out in advance first.

I don’t know how people pants their way into a successive coherent novel (perhaps through multiple revisions and editing).
