I'll be on an incredible panel with V.E. Schwab and Veronica Roth at the LA Times Festival of Books in April! Come if you're in the area, I think it'll be pretty amazing.

I have spent a year trying to pants this novel and I just cannot do it. I just can't. I am plotting the bejeezus out of the rest of it.

Sometimes novel-writing feels like walking a tightrope without a net. Or a tightrope. Which is fine as long as you don't look down, except that I keep looking down. (I realize that this ranks very, very low on the list of the world's ills today.)

I've never been a finalist for a Hugo, Nebula or World Fantasy Award. Which is 100% fine, I get plenty of stuff! But if you're nominating for the Hugos, and you liked Bright Sword, don't hold back.

More Bright Sword diary entries: a Celtic problem, Hamilton, and a descent into the underworld levgrossman.substack.com/p/a-season-i...

I read The Bright Sword by @levgrossman.bsky.social and Service Model by @aptshadow.bsky.social back to back, both of which center around characters navigating a world that has fallen apart, and I highly recommend the pairing. Anyone want to recommend a favorite book “double feature”?

Very chuffed to find THE BRIGHT SWORD up for an LA Times Book Prize! I will be in LA for this ... events.latimes.com/festi…

I've been writing BLOOD IN THE MACHINE for months, but I was on the fence about going all-in. Recent events have made the call easier. Elon Musk, the Silicon Valley oligarchs and their AI are taking over. I want to do all I can to push back. I hope you'll join me, and I'm asking for your support.

Last Stop Corbenic is up to 1000 subscribers! Probably mostly because it's free and I only post once every two weeks. I invite everybody to join who's interested in King Arthur and my writerly insecurities levgrossman.substack.com

In the rough draft of The Magician's Land, Janet killed somebody with her twin ice axes Sorrow & Sorrow and then said "I guess you could say he was axing for it." I understand why the beta readers made me cut that line but there are times when I feel regret.

You can now buy ebooks from Bookshop.org. Which means that indie and local bookstores can now sell ebooks and retain the full profit therefrom. Go forth! bookshop.org/ebooks

How did teenage Jane Austen turn a playful story about emotional excess into Sense and Sensibility, a searing satire? This week, Sophie and Jonty unpack how Austen’s redrafts cranked up the emotional stakes, exposing the injustice of the world her characters couldn’t escape.

I'm a massive fan of @slobpodcast.bsky.social -- and yes I'm married to one of the co-hosts, but I maintain that it is _objectively_ one of the funniest, smartest podcasts around. Some great recent episodes include ...

Winter makes me want to snuggle up with a book. (Well, so do the other three seasons.) Best book I’ve read so far this year: @levgrossman.bsky.social’s The Bright Sword. Other recommendations?

“…..we are made for a bright world, but live in a dark one.” The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman The Bright Sword is a magnificent, miracle of a book by @levgrossman.bsky.social
