Our Supreme Court has worked tirelessly to re-legalize Redemption-era vote suppression tactics, most notably Shelby v. Holder but bleaching the electorate has been an entire long-term project for Roberts.

There’s individual responsibility also, but the structural headwinds have been real.

Actually ~36% of eligible voters elected him. The lowest winning percentage in modern times. That means the majority of eligible voters either didn’t like their choices and stayed home, voted against him or voted democrat even though they represented the same old ineffective establishment.
